The First Aid Response Course. First Aid Response (FAR) is a training standard developed by the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council of Ireland (PHECC). This is an independent statutory body that set the standards for training for pre-Hospital emergency care in Ireland. Who needs this course? There is a requirement under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 to have a sufficient number of First Aid Responders trained and deployed in the workplace. Employers have specifically a duty to provide first-aid materials /equipment at all places of work where working conditions require it. There must be one First Aid Response (FAR) trained person on the childcare premises at all times. A person with additional first aid training to support the FAR trained staff is welcome. Onsite training is available over a number of weeks on a date and time which suits your staff. When delivered as a webinar, the webinar is 2 days and practicals will take place in a physical location, when the Covid-19 restrictions permit. Participants: 1 instructor per 8 Students. Assessment/Certification: Assessment will be by continuous assessment & Multiple
Choice Examination. On completion, the participant receives a Pre-hospital Emergency Care
Council (PHECC) First Aid Response Certificate.
This certification will be valid for two years. First Aid Response Refresher
To maintain your FAR qualification, you will be required to undertake a two day refresher
FAR course every 2 years.
